Too often, the first conversation with an integrator focuses on order volume, budget, and installation timelines. Which...those items do matter. But they’re outputs of a much bigger picture. Before any equipment or solution gets recommended, a strong integration partner should want to know: → What does a typical order look like? → Where does work slow down, and why? → Which bottlenecks are costing you the most today? → What will your operation need to look like in 3, 5, or 10+ years? The right solution starts with the right questions. The best partners slow down at the start so you can move faster later. They look for opportunities you may not have considered, and they help you weigh what will deliver value today and as your business grows. SAVOYE North America believes part of our role is helping companies know what to look for in an integration partner, so they can make these decisions with confidence. What’s one question you think every company should ask before choosing an integrator? 👇 #KnowYourIntegrator #WarehouseAutomation #SupplyChain #SAVOYENorthAmerica

When Beckhoff put a PC on the shop floor 40 years ago, few believed it would last. Today it runs the machine. It all started in 1986, when Beckhoff delivered its first PC-based machine controller: a modified standard PC took over the control functions of a double miter saw and gave the application a significant boost in productivity. The hardware PLC became a software PLC. The reservations in the industry were considerable, and they lasted. The PC was regarded as error-prone, and the specter of the Windows blue screen loomed over the debate for years. What followed replaced one limitation after another. Lightbus in 1989 and EtherCAT in 2003 addressed the communication bottleneck between computing power and the machine. TwinCAT arrived in 1996 and made standard operating systems real-time capable – an anniversary of its own, as the software turns 30 this year. And with enough computing power at hand, part of what used to be solved mechanically can now be solved in software. Cam plates, gears and shafts increasingly gave way to new transport systems such as XTS in 2012 and XPlanar in 2018. What was built on this foundation tends to stay in service for a long time. Building automation, one of many fields now running on PC-based control, offers an early example. At Microsoft's German headquarters, the C6140 Industrial PCs installed in 2000 were replaced by compact C69xx devices after more than 20 years, while the I/O level remained unchanged. The CX1000, the first device of the CX series, was not discontinued until 2024, 21 years after its launch. Today, PLC, motion control, CNC, safety, measurement technology, vision, robotics and AI can be combined on a single industrial PC. The approach is open and centralized, and PC-based always means software-based. Because it builds on PC technology, IT and OT come together without gateways in between. The idea behind it is still the one from 1986: automation belongs in software, running on hardware that the IT industry keeps making more powerful. Forty years leave their traces in every engineering department. Which project with PC-based control do you still think back on? We would be glad to read your stories in the comments. #pcbasedcontrol #beckhoff #automation

#TeamInUse #Croissance #AgentsIA #Industrie
